Lundi 14 décembre, cinq heures du matin. Il faisait nuit et froid à Bordeaux.
La petite chambre de Nora Kinsella était au-dessus du garage de Roussel Déménagements, à La Bastide. La Bastide, c'est un quartier de Bordeaux, sur la rive droite de la Garonne. La rive, c'est le bord du fleuve.
Nora avait trente et un ans. Elle était irlandaise, de Cork. Elle est arrivée en France en septembre. Depuis, elle portait des meubles. Même un piano.
Dans le garage, il y avait le camion. Un grand camion blanc, avec une baleine sur la porte. Une baleine, c'est un très grand animal de la mer. C'était un autocollant : une image qui colle.
Le camion s'appelait la Baleine.
Dehors, quelqu'un a klaxonné.
